Sunday, 11-30-97 Today we slept in longer than usual, getting around at about 11:00. Michael and Cindy went to church with Lois. My guess is that Lois really enjoyed having Michael and Cindy with her. The day turned out to be very easygoing for us. One of the Sunday football games started at noon, so that took up the afternoon. At half time, Jim went out to get lunch for us at a nearby NuWay store. NuWay makes loose meat sandwiches using steam cooked hamburger. The sandwiches had mustard, chopped fresh onions, and pickles on the loose ground beef. It makes a tasty combination. Michael and Cindy had lunch with Lois and George at their house. The football game was over at about 3PM. This is really a bit late to start finding something to do, but Michael came up with the idea to go to the art museum. So he and Cindy picked up his grandmother Floraine and off we went to the Wichita Art Museum. We arrived about an hour before closing time. With so little time left, Michael got a wheelchair for my mother so we could get around a little faster. It was nice to go through the museum again. I had an interesting experience when I was looking at some old photos of the museum. One of the security people came by when I was telling Kay that I remembered when I visited the museum as a child. The man with the museum began to ask questions about what I remembered about the parking facilities at the time. I told him what I remembered. He then told me that the museum was planning to restore the front entrance of the museum to its original condition. But it seems that nobody could remember where visitors parked their vehicles. All the old photos were taken with no cars shown anywhere near the museum. As I told about how parking was handled, it occurred to me that I was now in the position of the "Old geezer" who is quizzed about how "Things used to be." It was a weird feeling. We finished our tour of the art museum with a visit to the gift shop. From the museum, Michael and Cindy took my mother back to her place and Kay and I went back to Jim and Donnas place. Jim wanted to take us to a new restaurant in the area. This would give Donna another chance to get out. We went to the Timberline Steakhouse and Grill. As usual, I came away from my meal feeling very full. That seems to be the norm during this trip. After dinner, we visited for a short time and we were off again. Michael, Cindy, Steven, Kay and I went to Lois and Georges house for our last evening in Wichita. George and Steven were watching football game and I played with Pete for a while. It was a nice way to end our visit.
It was late when we got back to our motorhome, so we went right to bed. Michael stayed with us so he could get up really early in the morning. He and Cindy will be flying back to California very early.
