Thursday, 11-27-97 Thanksgiving Day We got around a bit late this morning and this is not a morning to be sleeping in. Jim was busy getting ready for the Thanksgiving feast that would take place later. I generally just stayed out of the way. Then Kay suggested that I could make the chip dip. So I mixed up the ingredients and commenced to check out the quality of my endeavor. Then I checked it again. By the time I finished testing the flavor of the chip dip on several chips, I had to go to the store to buy enough new ingredients for another batch. In my own defense, I had help with a series of taste tests that made it necessary to get more dip stuff. Donnas brother Terry arrived early enough to help me reduce the supply of chip dip.
Jim was busy as a bee in the kitchen when his mother-in-law, Edith, came in to help him with the mashed potatoes. Edith was accompanied by her friend Chris. He is very nice and we always enjoy his company. We had our usual "Turkey with all the trimmings" meal. As usual, I ate too much. I was too stuffed to eat any dessert.
In the afternoon, Jim and Steven rode with us to the Wichita airport to meet Michael. His flight came in at about 4:00. Because of a problem with weather and the airline, Michaels flight was a day late and on a different airline. He had to take a flight from San Francisco to St. Louis, Missouri to catch a connecting flight to Wichita. While we were waiting for Michaels luggage, he decided to rent a small car so he would be free to go where he wanted, when he wanted.
