Trip Summary — Trip map located at bottom of page

When I began this trip I planned to be away from home a maximum of only four weeks. However, I was away from home almost seven weeks — the longest time away since I was in the Navy back in the early to mid 1960's. I spent five weeks working at a friend's company on computer issues. I rented a house in Colorado Springs where I slept in my motorhome and used the house for everything else. While there I took a side trip to Wichita, Kansas and took a couple of tourist drives. The weather in Colorado was often cold but always beautiful.

I attended a small church while in Colorado Springs. I would like to say, "Thank you" to Pastor Charles and the congregation of Heart of Worship church for the warm and loving welcome they gave me while I was staying in Colorado Springs.

I had a great experience of staying in an impromptu RV campsite next to a friend's house in Tucson., Arizona. I made a last-minute decision to visit what has become another favorite camping venue. Again I would sleep in my motorhome and use the house for meals and showers. While there I had the privilege of having dinner twice with RV Club friends visiting from California along with family members and friends, some of whom I hadn't seen for a long time.

I had a good time when I was with my friends. During this trip I made new friends and I renewed a couple of old friendships. A highlight was finding two friends in Arizona that I hadn't seen in more than 45 years. At the top of the list of highlights was getting to visit with a good buddy from the time when I joined the U.S. Navy and attended school at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. I also was able to locate a good friend from my high school days.

An unexpected fun event was a tour of Biosphere 2 near Tucson. Our tour guide was excellent with an unending delivery of educational information seasoned with a dash of humor here and there. A big "Thank you" goes to Kat, our tour guide, for adding so much to an already interesting experience.

When I left Tucson to head back to California, I stopped in Lake Havasu City for the night where I met a couple of friends from our California RV club. I was reminded of a fun visit in Lake Havasu City in November of 2008. I had Samantha riding with me from Tucson all the way back to my home in California. It was nice having her ride with me all the way home.
